Ethos & Vision

Our Values

Respect

We value respect because success in life is built on strong relationships with others. We encourage children to have the utmost respect for themselves, knowing that they are valued and important individuals.

Furthermore we value respect for others, for their similarities and their differences. Respect for oneself and others is an important part of being successful in school and in life beyond school.

Children will learn to;

Be respectful of others as well as learn self-respect.
Respect others including their personal space and belongings.
Respect other’s opinions even if they are different from their own
Be open to learning from their classmates and teachers
To follow instructions from adults in the school respectfully
Listen carefully and avoid interrupting

Kindness

Promoting kindness enables children to develop an understanding of how to treat others with empathy, consideration and compassion. It helps children to develop emotional intelligence and build positive relationships with others. A school community where kindness is practiced, enables a safe environment where children feel able to fully take part.

Engaging in acts of kindness and teaching kindness boosts mental health, fosters inclusion and builds emotional resilience. Children grow up feeling empowered to make a positive difference.

Children will learn to;

Treat others with kindness and care using polite words
Be honest
Include others and avoid excluding others
Be gentle
To support and encourage each other

Responsibility

Responsibility is important for children to learn so that they can become independent and successful in life. Encouraging responsibility means that children become responsible for the choices that they make as well as their learning. Children learn to take ownership of their actions as well as develop an understanding of social and environmental responsibility.

Taking responsibility often means facing challenges and this also helps children to boost their self esteem and resilience. Children grow up to become trustworthy adults with moral integrity valuing collaboration and teamwork.

Children will learn to;

Care for and take pride in the environment of the school
Resolve difficulties and seek appropriate adult help when needed
Come to lessons on time and with all their materials ready to learn
Take responsibility for their learning and stay focused during lessons
Follow rules and report unsafe situations
Take responsibility for their actions

'The school coveys a positive, caring and creative atmosphere, demonstrating that careful thought has been put into its organisational structure and visual presentation'
