Another year and another Young Voices and this one did not disappoint! The children had worked so hard preparing for the concert beforehand by attending rehearsals and practising at home that it was good to see their hard work pay off!
The school joined thousands of children around the country to perform at the renowned O2 Arena in London on Tuesday 16th January 2024. Staff and pupils from New Horizons Children’s Academy, Cedar Children’s Academy, Gordon Children’s Academy and All Faith’s Children’s Academy came together to be a part of the largest choir in the world. The atmosphere was electric and the excitement was at its peak. The choir was led by David Lawrence, who celebrated 25 years conducting for Young Voices. He ensured that the choir were ready to wow their audience. Andy Instone, who leads Urban Strides, brought the energy for the children. His dance crew were amazing and really showcased their passion.
We had special performances from MC Grammar and an amazing teenage drummer called Nandi Bushell. Both of them amazed the audience and it was a privilege to be able to perform with them.
In preparation for the event, a dress rehearsal concert for parents to watch was held at Cedar Children’s Academy and included children from all our Medway schools. The children all showed real confidence and determination as this was the first time they had sung without the lyrics to all the songs and in front of an audience.
It was a great experience for the children and adults involved and it is something that will be remembered for a long, long time.
